Dhrupad Immersion in Nature
Uday Bhawalkar at the Art Sanctuary
Sunday Evening | Natural Amphitheatre
Join us for a rare and intimate evening of Dhrupad, one of the oldest living traditions of Indian classical music, guided by master vocalist Uday Bhawalkar, in the open-air setting of the Art Sanctuary’s natural amphitheatre.
As dusk settles, the resonance of voice and breath will move through the landscape, allowing music and nature to meet in a shared field of listening. This is not a concert in the conventional sense, but an immersion—an invitation to slow the breath, soften the mind, and experience sound as a living presence.
Dhrupad is meditative, spacious, and deeply rooted in the elements. Performed outdoors, its subtle tones and extended alap unfold in dialogue with the land, the trees, and the evening air, creating a rare opportunity to experience this ancient form in a natural setting.
