Winter Solstice Day Retreat at the Art Sanctuary
Rest • Ritual • Seasonal Wisdom
Early bird ends 07.06
The Winter Solstice marks the deepest pause of the year — the longest night and shortest day — inviting us into stillness, reflection, and renewal. It is a time to slow down, conserve energy, and tend gently to body and mind.
In Ayurveda, winter is a season of cold, heaviness, and inward energy. When we align with these qualities through warmth, rhythm, and nourishment, winter becomes a powerful time for restoration and resilience. This one-day retreat offers embodied practices and practical wisdom to support wellbeing through the winter season.
Held within the natural surrounds of the Art Sanctuary, the day weaves together yoga, Ayurveda, ritual, creative reflection, and shared nourishment.
What to Expect
Arrival & welcome
We begin by arriving gently and grounding into the land, marking the Winter Solstice as a threshold moment with a simple opening ritual. This creates a calm, supportive container for the day.
Grounding yoga & deep rest
A slow, nourishing yoga or Yoga Nidra practice supports nervous system regulation, warmth, and rest. The practice is accessible to all levels and aligned with winter’s need for stability, softness, and restoration.
Ayurvedic winter living workshop
This practical workshop explores how to live in harmony with winter through an Ayurvedic lens. Topics include:
Understanding winter’s qualities and how they affect body and mind
Supporting digestion, immunity, and energy levels
Creating warming daily routines and seasonal self-care practices
Simple dietary principles for winter nourishment
Participants leave with tools they can apply immediately in daily life.
Shared warming lunch
A nourishing, seasonal lunch inspired by Ayurvedic principles supports digestion, grounding, and warmth.
Creative reflection & integration
A gentle creative and reflective practice offers space to integrate insights, honour what is ready to rest, and clarify intentions for the months ahead.
Closing ritual: honouring stillness
The day closes with a gathering around the fire, acknowledging the darkness of winter and welcoming the gradual return of light.
Who This Retreat Is For
Open to all and suitable for all levels, this retreat is ideal for anyone seeking rest, seasonal alignment, and practical tools to support wellbeing through winter.
